What We Do

IHSS supports the lifecycle of any offshore or nearshore development. Our services include, Hydrographic Surveying and Charting, Offshore Construction Support, Dredging Support, Offshore Geophysical Surveys, Precise Positioning Services, Metocean Services, Environmental/Ecological Mapping and Capacity Building. Our services also extend to inland waterways.

Hydrographic Surveys

We collect hydrospatial in accordance with internationally accepted standards for the purpose of seabed characterization, for use in map production, coastal zone management and to aid decision making as required by maintenance and capital dredging and other offshore engineering projects. We are adept in both towed and AUV Surveys

Geophysical Surveys

We collect geodata about the seabed and sub-seabed, critical in delineating the morphology of the seabed and substrata, for the purpose of profiling geologic features or buried objects, which serve as primary reference to geotechnical investigations and guide the installation of seabed infrastructure. We are adept in both towed and AUV surveys.

Precise Positioning Services

We are acquainted with both surface and subsurface positioning technologies currently available on the market. Our services include surface and underwater positioning required to position vessels, tools, rigs, the safe installation of seabed assets and harbour infrastructure installations. Our services are further expanded to navigation system installations, validation and calibration, including survey system design and integration.

AUV / ROV Surveys

We have experience with the positioning, setup, configuration, and dive planning of AUVs and ROVs, to acquire high resolution payload datasets/imagery of the water column, seabed and subseabed, as required in scour monitoring, inspections and infrastructure installation planning.

Environmental and Metocean Services

IHSS provides comprehensive environmental baseline studies, including habitat mapping and benthic sampling, required to identify factors that may hamper or qualify proposed development projects. Our services are further extended to the acquisition of metocean data, to guide the development of offshore projects

Ad Hoc Services

Our ad hoc services include Hydrographic Capacity Building Project Management / Client Representation Advisory with tender & bid preparations Assistance with geophysical data processing and Interpretation

Legal & Regulatory Frame

IHSS adheres to standards and guidelines set out by the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO), International Federation of Geodesists (FIG) and the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) in its pursuit to deliver quality deliverables. Longstanding accepted standards such as LINZ HYSPEC, NOAA, SUT and UKOAA are also observed.

Safety forms part of our core values and we recognize our obligation as an employer in ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for all our employees.

HSE policies on client and chartered vessels will be observed.

Key IHSS personnel are in possession of relevant offshore survival training, firefighting, first aid and HUET training
