About us

Integrated Hydrographic Surveying Solutions (IHSS) is a wholly Namibian private entity founded in 2009. The company has a 100% Namibian shareholding and directorship. IHSS was created with the vision to provide comprehensive offshore surveying services to the various stakeholders involved in the Namibian offshore industry and the coastal zone.

IHSS comprises of highly qualified Namibian professionals with a combined, 130 years of experience, acquired through both the local and international offshore sectors and include international Oil and Gas, Nautical Charting, Defense, Dredging, Marine Mining, Offshore Construction Support, Renewable Energy and Offshore Exploration. Our qualifications include amongst others, Hydrographic Surveying FIG/IHO (CAT A & B), Geology, Geomatics, Exploration Geophysics, Environmental Management/Biotechnology, Engineering, Project Management, Offshore Field Development and Marine Biology / Aquatic Ecology. IHSS supports each phase in the development of offshore and nearshore projects, from the exploration to decommissioning phase. Our services are extended to inland water bodies.

Jacqueline Kauluma (FIG/IHO/ICA Cat A)

Founder and Managing Director

8 years’ experience working in the Near and Offshore Diamond and Geophysical Exploration Industries. Specialties include AUV Surveys, Dredging Support, Vessel/Tool Positioning, Subsea Positioning, Survey QA/QC, Client Representation, Boundary Delimitations and Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), Marine and Space Geodesy, Survey Planning and Project Management, Oceanographic Research, Geophysical Data Acquisition and Processing, Vessel Mobilisation, Strategy Development and Implementation.

Victor Mutonga (PMP)

Director: Offshore Positioning and Construction Support Projects

18 years’ experience working for both the local and international offshore sectors. Have worked as both Hydrographic Surveyor (Debmarine Namibia) and Project Surveyor (Fugro Netherlands BV/Survey Africa). Specialties include Rig Moves, Vessel Positioning, Precise Positioning Services, Marine Geophysical Surveys, Underwater Acoustics, Offshore Metrology /Construction Support and Vessel Mobilisation.

Whes Kuzatjike (FIG/IHO/ICA Cat B)

Director: Bathymetry and Charting

23 years’ experience as a Hydrographic Surveyor. Whes was a Namibian attaché to both the Brazilian and South African Navy, where he served in the role of Hydrographic Surveyor, after which he transferred to Debmarine Namibia. He was a Committee Member for Namibian Continental Shelf Claim and involved with the planning and execution of the UNCLOS surveys for the expansion of the Namibian continental shelf. Specialties are Nautical Charting and Hydrographic Surveys. Whes has held the rank of Navy Lieutenant and is fluent in Portuguese.

Soul Daniseb (Pr. Eng)

Director: Engineering Support

Over 17 years’ experience as land based, inshore, offshore and dry-dock vessel maintenance engineer and project manager. Soul oversaw the regeneration and commissioning activities, implementation, and maintenance of a walk-able jack up Probe Drill Platform (PDP) and Aerial Ropeway System project, designed for exploration within the surf zone. He has worked closely with design houses to ensure the realization of key strategic projects. His experience includes industrial scale (dry-dock) vessel maintenance, shutdown maintenance, upgrades of vessel systems used for production and systems commissioning. He has also served as contract manager for chartered vessels. Specialties include project and contract management, contract negotiation and drafting, systems procurement, vessel maintenance and upgrades, engineering design and construction.

Ussia Ngapurue (Pri. Sci. Nat)

Consultant: Geosciences

19 years’ experience in both the international Upstream Oil and Gas Sector as well as local offshore mining sector. Ussia worked far and wide as a Petroleum Geophysicist and was involved with early phase exploration, appraisal and development of East African Oil Sector (Uganda, Kenya & Ethiopia) and exploration activities in the Southern Gas Basin of the North Sea (UK & Netherlands), as a former Tullow Oil employee. He holds the title of both Geologist and Geophysicist. He is a member of both the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) and
European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE) (2007 – present) and is a registered Professional Natural Scientist.

Dr Caroline Garus-Oas

Consultant: Environmental Research

Over 18 years’ experience spent working as a marine research technician, marine biologist, senior environmental officer and researcher for the fishing industry, government, mining sector and for research institutes. Caroline has developed Environmental Impact Assessment Guidelines for Aquaculture in Namibia while working for the National Planning Commission and was responsible for implementing a framework on the dangers of GMOs as a Biosafety Council member. Specialties are Environmental Auditing, EIAs, Marine Environmental Surveys, Bioengineering and Environmental Management Systems. She holds membership with SANCOR (South African Network for Coastal and Oceanic Research) and ISALS (International Society for Applied Life Science).

Birga Ndombo

Consultant: Environmental Management and Sustainability

Over 20 years’ experience working in the environmental, natural resource management and climate change sectors. as a project manager and in senior capacity roles. Birga has served as an environmental consultant for Integrated Environmental Consultants Namibia (IECN), Waterdesk Manager for the Desert Research Foundation Namibia (DRFN) and as Project Coordinator / Manager for multilateral stakeholders such as GIZ, UNDP, UNEP and GEF. She has been instrumental in implementing frameworks for environmental conventions, including assessment and revision of key policy documents in climate change adaptation and biodiversity conservation in Namibia. Specialties are. Environmental Auditing, EIA studies, Environmental and Natural Resource Management, Sustainable Development, Project Planning and Management, Policy and Strategy Development, Monitoring and Evaluation and lastly, Climate Change.
